This artwork was inspired by several trips that I’ve made to Zion National Park with family and friends. On a couple of occasions, I had the privilege of sharing a hike into the Narrows Gorge with some of my favorite people.
Like all of Zion, the Gorge is a magical place. Stone walls tower for hundreds of feet on both sides, shading the sunlight for much of the way. In places, the Virgin River’s path turns just enough to let the sunlight come streaming through, illuminating the rock as if it were the stained glass window of a gothic cathedral.
